Our Benefits

The Setauket Volunteer Firemen's Benevolent Association is pleased to offer the following benefits to our disabled or indigent members and their families.

Hearing Aids

Each member is allowed up to one reimbursement every 2 years of up to $1500 for hearing aids with the presentation of medical documentation of need and a paid bill.

Eyeglasses

Members are allowed up to 1 eyeglass reimbursement submission every 2 years, for a total reimbursable amount of up to $500.  Eligible for coverage in that submission is up to 2 pairs of glasses and up to 1 medical eye exam, with the presentation of a paid bill. The exam and glasses must be in the same visit. Items can not be piecemealed throughout the two year time period. 

Medicaid Premiums

Each member is allowed an annual reimbursement of up to $1,000 towards their annual Medicare/Medicaid part B premiums, if those premiums are not already covered by their union.

Sick Members

Up to $100 is approved for a get-well gesture for hospitalized members as well as for a condolence gesture for the member and immediate family of the member.

Funeral Benefits

The Benevolent will assist with funeral expenses for its membership on a case by case basis and as indicated by need of it's indigent members.

General Assistance

Throughout the year, the Benevolent will received one-off requests for hardship assistance from it's disabled or indigent members.  Membership will be required to illustrate need to the board.
